The Course

This open course covers all practical skills required to vaccinate adults, children and infants. You will also cover adverse reactions including anaphylaxis and basic life support for all ages.

It is suitable for Pharmacists:

  • Wishing to provide flu vaccines for patients
  • New to vaccines
  • Wishing to upskill from just flu
  • Who have had full training but are not regularly delivering vaccines so need to refresh

This is a comprehensive practical course brought to you in conjunction with our Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) Accredited Training Provider - ECG. Since being established in 2002, ECG continues to be a trusted and preferred training provider within the primary care sector. You will receive a full certificate of accreditation on completion of your training, suitable for use in any pharmacy providing the flu vaccination service.

Course details

Pre-course work:
If you are new to vaccination training, you must complete our mandatory online training module prior to attending the practical session. You will be provided with access to our the online Vaccination Theory course once you book your place. You may complete the section at your own pace and save your progress at any time to come back to it. Set aside 2 hours in total to complete the mandatory online training prior to attending the Practical session.

The National Minimum Standards for Immunisation Training and the associated Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training set out the knowledge and skills that healthcare professionals undertaking vaccination services need to have. Pharmacists who will provide the Flu Vaccination Service must have completed practical training in vaccination that meets these requirements.

NHS England has determined that pharmacists providing the Flu Vaccination Service need to attend face-to-face training for both injection technique and basic life support training every three years. Online refresher training should be done every year.

Duration:4.5 hours

At the end of the course delegates will be able to demonstrate:
How to set up for a vaccination clinic
Safe intramuscular and subcutaneous injection techniques
Intranasal administration of vaccines
Child positioning for vaccination
Adult and Paediatric basic life support
Recognition of anaphylaxis and other adverse reactions
Administration of adrenaline via an ampoule or any auto-injector

PGDs (Patient group directions)
We will be able to provide up to date information and advice on the use of PGDs, including private PGDs for locum Pharmacists wishing to provide vaccinations at any Pharmacy they work at.

Refund Policy

  • Full refund available up to 15 days before training date.
  • 50% refund within 10-14 days before date.
  • 9 days before training date - refund unavailable.
  • Whilst we endeavour to fulfil every session date, we reserve the right to cancellation in any circumstance, but guarantee a full refund in this instance.
